HandyMan Do IT

Terms of Service

Last updated 8 October 2026. The agreement between you and HandyMan Do IT.

Who we are and what these terms cover

HandyMan Do IT ("HandyMan", "we", "us") runs the HandyMan Do IT platform in Cameroon: the customer app, the professional app and the website at handymandoit.com. The platform connects customers with independent, verified professionals and deliverers for home, office, business and delivery services, and handles the booking, the payment and the follow-up in one place.

These terms apply to everyone who creates an account or uses the platform, whether as a customer, a professional, a deliverer or a partner. By creating an account or using the apps you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to open an account. Give accurate details, keep them up to date and keep your password to yourself: everything done from your account is your responsibility. One person, one account.

Professionals and deliverers must complete the application in the app and pass our verification before they receive jobs. We may ask for identity documents, proof of skills and references, and we may refuse or withdraw access at our discretion to protect customers.

How bookings work

You describe what you need, choose a professional or let suitable professionals respond, and confirm. Depending on the service, a booking is either paid at once to lock a published slot, confirmed by the professional first and then paid to lock it, or quoted after review and paid once you accept the quote. Prices, fees and the total are shown before you confirm.

A booking exists only once the platform has recorded it. It is confirmed once the payment is confirmed (or, for pay-on-delivery services, once a deliverer has accepted the order). Professionals are independent contractors who provide the service in their own name; HandyMan vets them, holds the payment, keeps both sides informed and runs the dispute process described below.

Payments, wallet and commission

Every payment goes through the app: MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money or your HandyMan wallet, processed by a licensed payment gateway. We never ask for your Mobile Money PIN. Cash and payments outside the app are not accepted; a professional who asks for them breaks these terms and may lose access.

Amounts are in FCFA and include the service price and, where shown, a booking or delivery fee. A platform commission, shown to professionals in their wallet, is deducted from their earnings on every paid job; customers pay the total shown and nothing more.

The HandyMan wallet holds money you add by Mobile Money. It can be used to pay bookings in one tap. Refunds on wallet payments return to the wallet. Wallet balances are not interest bearing and can be refunded to your Mobile Money on request to support.

Pay on delivery and gas orders

Some services, such as gas bottle delivery, are paid only after delivery. You order with a photo and a pinned address, the first available deliverer accepts, you follow them on the map, and the Mobile Money request is sent to your phone once the deliverer marks the order delivered. Check the bottle or goods before approving the payment.

When the option includes collecting your empty bottle, hand it over at delivery. If you refuse a delivery that matches your order, the delivery fee may still be due. Prices and fees for these services are shown before you order.

Cancellations, refunds and disputes

You may cancel a booking from the app. Whether a refund applies depends on how close to the visit you cancel and on any work already done; the applicable rule is shown when you cancel. Refund requests are reviewed by our finance team and settled to the method you paid with, or to your wallet.

If something went wrong with a visit, open a dispute from the booking within 48 hours of completion. Both sides are heard, evidence such as photos and messages is reviewed, and HandyMan's decision is final within the platform. Nothing here limits your rights under Cameroonian consumer law.

Professionals and deliverers

Professionals and deliverers act as independent contractors. They decide which jobs to accept, keep their own tools, taxes, permits and insurance, and are responsible for the quality of their work. They must be punctual, polite and professional, follow the agreed scope, keep the customer informed through the app and never request payment outside it.

Earnings land in the professional's wallet once a job is completed and paid, minus the platform commission. Withdrawals go to the professional's Mobile Money account under the minimum amount and the withdrawal cycle shown in the app. Repeated cancellations, poor ratings, fraud or off-platform payments lead to suspension.

Location, calls, messages and photos

To bring the professional to your door we use the address and map pin you give and, while a professional is on the way, their live position. Customers may share their own position during a visit; it stops when the visit ends.

In-app calls connect the two sides directly and are not recorded. Messages may be filtered for safety: contact details are hidden until the booking is paid. Photos you upload (your request, your proof of work) must be yours or used with permission, relevant to the job and free of anything unlawful.

Acceptable use

Do not use the platform to break the law, to harass or discriminate, to request or provide prohibited services, to bypass payments or verification, to post false reviews or to copy, scrape or disrupt the platform. We may remove content and suspend accounts that do.

Our responsibility

We run the platform with care, but it is provided as is and may be interrupted for maintenance or by events outside our control. To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you for any claim connected to a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the law of Cameroon.

Suspension, closing your account and changes

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after notice where the situation allows. You can close your account from the app at any time; open bookings are settled first and your wallet balance is refunded.

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect; using the platform afterwards means you accept them.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon, and the courts of Douala have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections.
